As usual, this community did not disappoint!! Over the last few days, the Highland Police Department has given back to families in our community and to agencies that serve our citizens as part of our Christmas with a Cop program. Local businesses and individuals donate money for the program to ensure its success. We want to thank Kloss Furniture, Olde Wicks Factory, Highland Moose Lodge 2479, Highland Lodge 583, Hope Lutheran Church, Boagie Buddies, Bank of Hillsboro, Michaels Coffee Shop, Richard and Sherry Kapp, Busey Bank, Jaycees, and numerous of individuals who provided cash donations.
Because of the generosity of others, we were able to make Christmas a bit brighter for 20 children and their families. Thanks to Walmart for hosting the event. Thanks to Gliks, Tru-Buy, Highland Liquor and Gas, and Shoe Sensation for adding to the fun.
In addition, we will donate to organizations that go above and beyond to contribute to our community. The Madison County Child Advocacy Center, The HACSM Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Metro East Humane Society-Highland, and the HUSD 5 Angel Fund. Each organization provides services to our community and for that, we are thankful.
Thanks to the police departments that joined us: Troy Police Department, the Grantfork Police Department, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Thanks to Santa and Mrs. Clause for making the long trip to our great town. The smiles were worth every moment.
