The Highland Police Department, in conjunction with the Madison County Coroner’s Office, has concluded the death investigation related to the death of Damien Zancha on May 22, 2025 at Silver Lake Park.
A thorough investigation was conducted with the Madison County Coroner’s Office, Highland Police Department, Illinois State Police Forensic Laboratory, as well as other local municipal agencies. The case has been concluded, finding the male subject, Damien Zancha, 19 years of age, died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This death has been classified as a suicide.
