On Wednesday, October 4th, at 1:20 p.m., your cellphone will receive an alert from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Do not panic. This is only a test. FEMA partners with national wireless carriers yearly to test the emergency alert system. This test will be transmitted for 30 minutes; however, your phone will only receive it once. Deanne Criswell, FEMA Administrator, expressed the importance of these tests and stated, “We want to make sure that when it counts, we can keep you informed.”
