Street crews have been out all morning pre-treating roadways in an effort to keep snow from bonding to the roadways. Temperatures are dropping rapidly and are predicted to drop below where our salt is effective. This means that if we continue to put salt down, we could inadvertently create refreezing (black ice) conditions. Crews will be out monitoring the streets and will treat necessary areas, but will mainly be out to plow snow from areas that drift because of the high wind conditions. We ask that you only travel out if necessary and use caution and allow yourself plenty of time if you need to travel.
We are also closing city offices early as the snow and wind have made it difficult to maintain safe conditions both for citizens and employees. A decision on trash service for tomorrow will be made later this evening by Republic Services. The City will put out any changes to trash services as we are made aware.
