While I was raised on a small farm in the rural Highland area, I always considered Highland “my town”. After graduating from Highland High School, I received an Associate of Science Degree from Belleville Area College, and then went on to get a B.S. in Business Administration with a Specialization in Human Resources from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. I have the pleasure of working in Highland, as V.P. of Administration at Highland Machine, a custom metal fabrication company.
I became a city resident in 1990, just before marrying my husband, Jeff. As a member of the Highland Jaycees, 1991-2002, I served in various member levels, including Chapter President, Gateway Region District Directors, and Schweizerfest Chairman. I am also known as JCI Senator #57337 and Albers Dude #8. These days, my daughter keeps me busy doing “mom things” with the various groups and activities she is involved in, and volunteering as a catechist at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
In 1998, I ran for election to the office of City Clerk. How government functions has always intrigued me and I enjoy being an active part of the community. I believe that meeting “neighbors” around town and interacting with the different organizations that make Highland what it is, truly makes it a special place to live and work.
