Hello. My name is Rick Frey. Born in Highland, I have lived here all of my life, except for a few years right out of High School when I lived in Kansas City and Washington, D.C.
My wife, Debbie, and I have two sons. Chris, who is married to Jene’ (Klosterman), and Cory, who married Jenna (Hutkowski). They each have three children.
Growing up in Highland, I was involved in sports, taught swimming lessons at the city pool, and enjoyed scouting, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout.
After High School, I attended School in Kansas City and then went to work for the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. After two years, I returned to Highland.
In 1976, I started as a dispatcher for the Highland Police Department and then served as a Police Officer.
In 1995, I partnered in a recycling company. Eventually, this company became Highland Recycling and Shredding. We specialized in commercial and industrial recycling and confidential shredding. We also offered the community a place to bring their recyclables. We sold the business in 2010 and now enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
Over the years, I have spent my free time coaching little leagues and involving myself in numerous local organizations. I also served on several City Committees.
I have enjoyed my 6 years on the City Council, and I am dedicated to looking after the wellbeing of the City of Highland and keeping proactive to its needs and growth.
