Boat License
- All Boats are required to have a City of Highland boat license with a 50 H.P. limit on engines. No other motor is permitted to be on the boat, no exceptions. A current Illinois watercraft identification card is required for motorized vessels. All permits may be purchased at City Hall between 8:00am- 4:30pm. Monday through Friday and at the Highland Police Department on weekends.
- Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats are no longer required to be titled/registered in Illinois, but must possess a City of Highland sticker to use Silver Lake and/ or Old City Reservoir.
- Only non-motorized canoes and Kayaks are permitted on the Old City Reservoirs. NO inflatable type boats/rafts are permitted on any of City of Highland Lakes or Ponds.

Pet Tags
- All pets within the City limits of Highland must have a pet tag. Tags can be purchased at City Hall.
- Spayed or Neutered pets $5.00
- Non-Spayed or Un-neutered pets $10.00

- To ensure pick up, refuse must be placed out before 7:00am
- The residential refuse rate is $21.00 per month, and included in the monthly utility bill
- The rate for business without a permanent dumpster is $34.00 per month (6 bag limit).
- Dumpster orders can be made by calling City Hall at 618-654-9891
- Rates listed are subject to change- please verify upon placing your order
- Residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste is unlimited for pickup.
- Containers not to exceed 33 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight
- Yard waste will be placed in a can with a red X or a Kraft paper bag.
- Other large, bulky items (i.e.: furniture, mattresses, other household items) no longer require refuse stickers and do not require advance notice. Pick up will be on the regularly scheduled pickup day.
- Construction materials is not considered a “bulky item”, and requires placement within a temporary dumpster for its collection and removal.
- No pool chemicals will be picked up.
- Appliance pickup is available upon request. Call City Hall to arrange pickup.
