Blended Learning Lifeguard Course

Registration Opens May 1st for swimmers that live in the Highland School District and May 2nd for Non-residents.

This course will have Online Learning with classroom sessions for review, skills, and test.  All class meetings must be attended in order to receive certification.  Accommodations
will not be made for schedule conflicts and make up dates are not available.  Course fees are non-refundable

Prerequisites:
  • Minimum Age 15 on the first day of the class
  • 300 Yard Swim of front crawl with rhythmic breathing, breaststroke, or a combination of the two.  Participants may use googles, but may not stop between lengths.
  • Without goggles swim 20 yards with retrieval of a 10 lb. brick from the deep water within one minute 40 seconds
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, arms are either crossed with hands under arms or up with hands above the water.
If you would like to do a trial 300 yard swim prior to the first day of the class, please email lwilken@highlandil.gov to schedule a time.  Anyone failing to complete the prerequisites skills may transfer to another course and try again.  Refunds are not available.

Online Portion must be completed before the first day of the class.

Location:  Classroom Sessions held at both Highland Community Pool and Korte Recreation Center.

Session 1 Classroom Dates:  May 31st, June 1st, and June 2nd

Classroom Times:  9am to 4pm
